Let me begin by saying congratulations to Pope Leo XIV! I’m very excited to see our new American/Peruvian Pope in action and I wish him the best.
I’ve been having trouble wording today, so I will keep it short (and sweet). Last weekend, we watched this video about making cube and sphere shaped croissants at an Italian bakery:
I will warn you – I could not stop thinking about it. I was so taken with the look of these, I needed to experience one. I knew I had seen one at a local bakery on Instagram, and tracked one down at Dar Rafiki‘s in Haverhill.
So earlier this week, between meetings, errands, taxiing my kid, and evening events, I drove my way over there and procured said cube croissant. They had 2 flavors: Tiramisu and Peanut Butter. I bought both. Because I had driven a decent distance. And because after that, I deserved TWO little treats.

This was the smallest little shop I’ve ever seen, but they certainly packed a lot in that itty bitty space. And they also sell sandwiches?
So, I brought the croissants home and it was just like the video. The edges were perfect, it wasn’t falling apart, and it was so beautiful.

When we cut it open, it was buttery and flaky and full of pastry cream.

The tiramisu one tasted like coffee with a hint of sweetness. The peanut butter one was like a creamy peanut butter and butter sandwich (I don’t know how else to describe it).
It’s probably a good thing that it takes so long to drive there, because I don’t think eating one of these every day at breakfast would be healthy. But I could absolutely do it, if called upon.
I hope that you have something beautiful to look forward to today, or that you can find a mini adventure that ends with delight.
